KMPi TFF System (KroFlo® MiniKros Pilot i) Tangential Flow Filtration (TFF) System is the ideal system for precise and reproducible control and documentation of Tangential Flow Filtration processes ranging from 10 to 1000 Liters. The fully integrated system consists of a digital peristaltic pump, multi-language man/machine interface with a graphical LCD display digital pressure monitor for automated alarm and shut-off controls, KMPi Easy Load Pump head, scale for automated alarms and shut-off controls, Automatic Backpressure Valve, module stand, and real-time data collection and process control software, KFComm. With the pump drive and Easy-Load Pump Head, the KMPi provides consistent and accurate flow rates with a range of 0.01 to 13.0 LPM. Two 13 LPM KMPi Easy-Load Pump Heads or one 17 LPM High-Performance Pump Head may also be used with the system.
*Using different combinations of Auxiliary Components, the KMPi becomes an automated TFF system. By utilizing auxiliary pumps, scales, and valves, the KMPi is able to closely monitor and control a variety of TFF processes.

Automatic Backpressure Valve
SpectrumLabs.com's KrosFlo Automatic Backpressure Valve (ABV) can be used to control Transmembrane Pressure (TMP) on the retentate line or permeate pressure on the permeate line. When attached to the retentate line, the valve automatically opens and closes to maintain a user-defined TMP. For flow control, the valve is attached to the permeate line and automatically opens and closes to maintain a user-defined permeate back pressure. The ABV decreases the chance of membrane fouling by maintaining a uniform TMP throughout the process run, reduces operator process management time and decreases tangential flow filtration processing time by maintaining a more uniform gel-layer.
KFComm Data Collection Software
Automatically collects process data and provides real-time overviews of the filtration process.
Records 8 real-time operating parameters:
Feed Flow Rate
Permeate Flow Rate
Calculates 9 processing parameters:
Transmembrane Pressure (TMP)
Pressure Drop (DP)
Total Permeate Volume
Retentate Flow Rate
Filtration Flux Rate (LMH)
Cross Flow Flux (CFF)
Volumetric Throughput (VT)
Automatically graphs data in Excel-based software
21CFR Part 11 enabled when used with optional KF Comm Compliant Workbook and interface software package from Ofni Systems (ExcelSafe™)
The KMPi can be equipped with up to two Auxiliary Scales-- one for the Process Reservoir, and one for the Permeate Reservoir. Employing scales further allow the KMPi better control during TFF applications.
